You tried to stop the driver using the devcon.exe utility (the old version can also be downloaded at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272 , the new version can be found in C: \ WinDDK \ 7600.16385.1 \ tools \ devcon \ i386 after deploying WDK)? Are you looking at what kind of processed your driver is using (for example with respect to Process Explorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx )?
