Provide your own openid server

Now I use third-party sites to act as my openid provider (myvidoop and myopenid). I was thinking of including my site as my provider. I definitely thought that there would be some scripts that I could install, and this is easy to achieve. I tried janrain applications, clamshell, phpmyid, etc. I could not get them to work. I am pretty competent in web design, so I was surprised.

Do you think I should just stick with myOpenID?

Are there any scenarios that you would recommend achieving what I want?

I do not need to provide authentication of several people, only me. I do not need to authenticate openid users on my site.

Instead of starting any type of server myself, I delegate authentication to another provider, still typing my own URL.

Many OpenId providers let you do this. In the case of myOpenId, here are the instructions:

https://www.myopenid.com/help#own_domain

Thus, you can specify your own URL (highfivefriday.com) when entering a site with OpenId support, and if you decide to leave myOpenId some day, you can transparently delegate it to another provider.

I thought this might be useful since you only need to authenticate.

Hosting your own provider is absolutely doable, but doing it safely is a lot of work. Seriously, consider looking for a professional site like myOpenID, Google, or Yahoo that you trust before looking for your own.

If you want to host your own, many libraries , make it more or less simple.
