Alternatives to Live Audio Streaming * without * Flash, Silverlight

What, if any, are there alternatives for Flash, Silverlight, and Java applets for streaming live media?

There are several RTP-based streaming methods, such as RTSP (as mentioned earlier), SAP, and SIP.

There are also HTTP methods such as HTTP Live Streaming (as used by iPhone) and Smooth Streaming (as used by silverlight), TS also exists on top of UDP.

In short, there are many ways to stream multimedia between computers. Depending on your requirements that you did not mention, you can choose the best option [s]. Perhaps you expect the video to play in a web browser, or perhaps with reliable TCP transport. Maybe you need something cross platform. Maybe you need multicast. I just do not know!
