Migrating from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010 Express Editions

I use C # and asp.net in the visual studio 2008 standard. I just found out that there is no Visual Studio 2010 standard.

I can not afford Visual Studio 2010 Pro.

So I will lose when (if) I start using C # 2010 express web dev 2010 express

I am using express versions of VS 2010, and here is what I found is missing compared to VS 2008 Pro:

  • No support for plugins at all (for example, no Resharper or what not)

  • There is no Windows Service template (this is really strange, as it exists in the VS 2008 Express version of C #, so it must be removed from 2008 Express to 2010 Express)

And to a large extent, perhaps there are other shortcomings, but I have not come across anything else.

I used the VS 2008 Express editions at home (and now 2010 Express), but I am running VS 2008 Pro at work.

I created a Windows service template for Visual Studio 2010 Express, you can get it on my blog: http://blog.larmib.com/2011/windows-service-template-for-visual-studio-2010-express/ for Visual Basic . Someone can convert it to C #.
