Make CAPTCHA accessible to people with disabilities. What approaches did you use?

I am nearing the completion of the migration of our existing website to the CMS, and I have just finished creating all the various contact forms. The CMS I use has CAPTCHA built into this form builder, which is great, but the only decryption method is the decryption-noise method.

This approach works well, but it limits access for people who may have impaired vision or vision. I worked on this with a “help” page that allows people with disabilities to contact us by phone, and I'm thinking of providing a single-field form that says: “Send us your email address and we will contact you.” Accessibility is of particular importance to me as a web developer, but from an organizational point of view; therefore, we reduce the amount of spam we receive.

So, what I would like to know is, does anyone in the community have any experience with other CAPTCHA methods, and how did you manage to make them accessible to people with disabilities?

As a blind person, I find recaptcha to be one of the best CAPTCHA services where there is a sound option. The problem with using SMS as the only alternative is that many visually impaired users do not have cell phones that allow them to read text messages.

A good captcha, such as reCAPTCHA , usually includes CAPTCHA audio. I also saw a site that will send an SMS message and enter the code in sms (Google-gmail will do this).

I am very interested in this because I am currently implementing CAPTCHA in jQuery.

Many sites, including this one, I believe have the ability to play noisy sound with built-in oral numbers, like audio equivalent to the traditional CAPTCHA image.

I find the result quite creepy, actually. Reminds me of station numbers .

As Michael said, sound with each character of a CAPTCHA text said better or worse is a common option. If your CMS is based on PHP or PHP is available in the hosting infrastructure that you use in any case, here is the open source CAPTCHA application with the ability to download audio:

I have implemented a production site with phpcaptcha and it works as advertised.
