I am looking for a high-level overview of how one goes from AST to working code via DLR, does anyone (link for) have something similar?

It creates a custom version of javascript in DLR.

to see the actual implementation of the parser, although I would probably recommend using Antlr as your parser. This is what I use, although I have some Antlr experience :)
