Can I use .NET 4 with SharePoint 2007?

I am on the team that is currently building the application based on MOSS 2007 (which relies on .NET 2), and we would like to use Entity Framework v4 (which relies on .NET 4).

Is it possible?

Not. Version 4.0.NET has a new CLR (4.0), etc., but SharePoint 2007 is only supported on CLR 2.0.

Even SP2010 does not support .net 4.0 (for now).

Although I have not tried, I assume that this is not possible. To use .net 4.0 builds, an application using your moss site must be upgraded to asp.net version 4.0. After that, the version of system.web and other builds will change, and I think the moss just stops working. But hey, this is just my guess. You can always try it.

Not. Even SharePoint 2010 is based on ASP.NET 3.5
