What version of safari is iphone os used for? (as of 12.12.2009)

What version of Safari is now on the iphone? Is this Safari 4? Safari 3? 2? Is there something in between? In other words, when I write code for iphone, which version of Safari for pc / mac will be the most accurate version for testing?

I think that I have already encountered a situation where the canvas tag is processed differently on iphone than in safari 4. (in particular, cmd javascript fillText does not work).

Point your iPhone here, the link provided by Neal doesn't seem to work for me. Link

Update I accessed the website using myouch and this is the answer:

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (ipod: U;CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X: es_es) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 Browser Name/Version: M_webkit/3.1.1

So, I assume this is a safari 3.1.1

You can quickly and easily check the version of Safari or any web browser on your iPhone / iPad by entering one short script in the address bar.

You have to test your project using the iPhone simulator and on real devices that you are going to deploy.

As you mentioned, testing on another platform is a guaranteed headache.
