Are DetailsView / FormView rich enough for editing and pasting?

I am wondering if DetailsView / FormView and ObjectDataSource have enough options to insert / edit your records or not?

Or better ask you. Do you prefer to use them or create your own form?

Because several times it is not easy for them to use them for a difficult task. On the other hand, when you have many fields, then create your own form over the kill.

No doubt you can use asp.net detailsview and formview to edit, paste, display data. This simplifies and speeds up the reproduction of your data, if you are comfortable. Otherwise, you may come across some typical odds that almost everyone has answered, and you can find them online. Conclusion: as soon as you get a detailed presentation using the form, they will become your favorite tools! This is what Microsoft wants from developers.

However, there are a few points to keep in mind: if you have forms with many controls and you need them to interact with each other, you need to think about playing around the direct ways of formview, detailsview. In this case, it will be very easy for you if you created your own interface with the necessary controls.

Yes Yes. Each of them has an insert / edit template. You can make them work, and they work great. Used them in their applications. Complex tasks, formview should be able to handle, since you have full control over the interface and layout.

If you have a large form, the detailed description allows you to specify the fields and allows the control to do the work (you just indicate that the data and details are viewing the form), but, of course, with the user interface, the form is the go way, and yes , it can be tedious to create large forms ... but this is what we should do for developers, either to find or create a form layout control, or create our own user interface layout.
