Create a magazine for the Kindle

I'm curious how people make reading material for the Kindle. Is programming knowledge required? I think maybe HTML or XML or something else? Is there software to handle everything? If I wanted to make a magazine for people to read their Kindles, what could be the steps for me to achieve this goal?

You can read about the file formats supported by Kindle here . Basically all you have to do is create a pdf file.

You can try the Amazon Kindle Publisher Kindle Publishing Program page. It contains tools for converting HTML, XHTML, XML (OPF / IDPF format) or an ePub source to a Kindle Book, as well as a Kindle viewer so you can see how your book looks on a Kindle.

I am using the free version of RawCode from Kinser Publishing . They have one with a “visual” author to make it easier, but I have not tried it yet. Saves an HTML page for upload to amazon for conversion.
