Calculus in Ruby

What do I mean - are the differentiation and integration functions that CAS would do? (e.g. regular pocket CAS, if not better)

Is it possible? Which stone do you need to install? Has anyone had experience?

Since you don't have a really concrete practical question, here are some links with sample code for calculus in Ruby. Hope you find here something useful for your purposes:

The links might be something useful on the Ruby for Science page I found. Warning: in Japanese, but it is associated with several promising Ruby modules ...

I don't know if you need to do this in Ruby or not, but the Python community has some pretty strong scientific connections: things like NumPy and SciPy seem to be all in this community. Perhaps this helps with the choice, maybe not, but this is additional information.

Here are some links from the ruby mailing list: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.ruby/browse_thread/thread/25fca9b317246443#

http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/200696#new

And you can, of course, go to www.gemcutter.org, enter “math,” and see what gems come out.
