Eclipse FTP "Team Plugin"

It seems to me from the next page http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/platform-team/target.php and other similar pages. that there is a reliable, mature, correctly integrated (and, it would seem, very smart) way to download and synchronize files from the eclipse workspace with an FTP site for four to six years. It descends from this page and similar pages on the Internet that โ€œWebDAV and FTP plugins are built as part of the platform assembly โ€, which for me in plain English means that if you have basic eclipse files you should already have it.

This is obviously not the case. you donโ€™t even have the plugins needed for basic ftp access unless you install it from the repository. It is not only not installed. it is not available from the default plugin repositories installed during eclipse boot.

Not only that, but I couldn't even find the link to the repository anywhere. RSE - which seams a library from the nineties with such limited functionality that client shells written for Windows 3.1 can do more in fewer steps - has a plugin repository URL located in many places. but the team plugin only has links to source CVS repositories at best. even most of them are broken.

Finally. Does anyone know how to install the "team" ftp client so that I can synchronize my content with FTP?

Well, time for me to answer my own question.

No RSE does what org.eclipse.team.ftp managed to do five years ago. Somehow this functionality has never been included. I have no idea why they refused a completely logical decision in favor of the new methodology back.

However, by visiting the site recommended by @bmargulies, I realized that Jcraft still contains the original FTP and WebDav Service for Team Services (on which their sftp service is built)

So, you can simply point out the eclipse installation dialog at http://eclipse.jcraft.com/ and install the original plugin.

Good luck.

Well, here is the sftp plugin on sourceforge.

This is only about the internal plugin that defines the base container for any ftp or webdav application.
You can see by looking at:

  • source eclipse.ftp , which is basically an exception, some interfaces and the main FTP container.
  • target.ftp plugin sources , this feature has been here for over 4 years, untouched, with basic features.

Only a more advanced client, such as eclipse.team.ftp , defines the client, but not on eclipse.team.ftp anymore, because it is now a DSDP traffic control component that actually developed a more advanced FTP / Webdav layer. Since 2006, he has accepted .

I'm looking for this too. Any solution for you yet?

This one was also left dead and then expelled. :( ( Command synchronization on top of RSE

I think the Eclipse developers are still not sufficiently interested. Especially if you continue to see not only dead projects, but even successful ftp-sync projects that will be closed.

Really sad.
