Rails Hosting for Nonprofits

Does anyone know about rails hosting companies that will offer a free profit plan for nonprofits. I am sure that it will be available only at a certain point (bandwidth, disk, etc.), but I would like to explore options.

If you are located in the USA, dreamhost will provide free hosting for non-profit organizations: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Non-profit_Discount

and they have a good guide to set up rails here: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Getting_Started_with_Ruby_on_Rails

Check out Heroku . They do not provide individual plans for non-profit organizations, but their basic plan is free.

The 5 MB storage in Heroku is just a database. For the actual placement of assets (files, videos, ...) they recommend using S3 (see http://docs.heroku.com/constraints#large-static-assets ).

You can always update the database when faced with restrictions. The first paid plan is 50 MB for $ 15 per month, see http://heroku.com/pricing

In addition, although Heroku does not offer a β€œnon-profit plan,” I’m sure they will want to discuss some link exchange / free database when you contact them directly.
