Why does renaming cause a file to be added rather than a file?

I accidentally added and committed a file with the wrong name. No problems. The turtle has a rename command. The team deleted the original and added a new file.

Is it just a shorthand for copying, deleting and adding? Is this team doing something else backstage?

in addition to being simply abbreviated, it also associates the story with the new file so that you can see previous versions.

Yes, in svn there is no such thing as renaming - these are only the operations that you described above.

Interestingly, there is not even such a thing as move - see http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.0/re18.html

Edit: you shouldn't have any problems since you did this in the first place, but it looks like the topic: SVN rename are traps to avoid
