Is there a web service for geographic boundaries?

Are there any good web services for defining country / state borders? I would like to get an array of points (preferably in JSON) so that I can draw a vector image using this information.

If such a web service does not exist, where else will this information be located?

I do not know if there is a web service for this.

However, if you ultimately have to do it yourself, you might be interested in a beautiful, freely accessible geo-database called VMAP0 (Level 0 Vector Map). It contains, among other things, national borders and coastlines.

(This probably helps if you are familiar with GIS to use the data.)

There is no such web service. But you can extract this information from Google maps or from any navigation software available on the market. This will require some back processing, but still possible.
