Why does R sometimes stop displaying output?

Sometimes R stops displaying output. I dial number 1 followed by a return key, and nothing appears.

This situation happened after I clicked on the "STOP" icon in the window, which is designed to stop lengthy calculations. I am using R 2.11.0 on a Mac.

When you press the "STOP" button, R stops displaying the output? How to get R to output output again?

Are you using a sweave script or something else with output redirection? Dropout from the Sweave script often leaves you with no output. Try sink(NULL) and see if it fixes this.
