How to open edmx file in design view?

Can anyone suggest how I can open an edmx file in a design view. Is this an evrytime discovery in the XML view?

Right-click on the item and select "Open with ..." - this should offer you a designer. You can also set the default value from this dialog box.

I assume that you are using a version of Visual Studio that supports the EDMX constructor ...

If it does not open automatically, you probably do not have SQL Server data tools installed.

You need to modify the installation of Visual Studio 2012 and select the SQL Server data tools from the list of additional functions, which includes the EF constructor.
