How do I determine the date a service pack was applied to an instance of SQL Server?

For an instance of SQL Server 2005/2008, how do I determine the date and time that the service pack was applied to the instance? Is there a system table or view that stores this information?

Take a look at C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft SQL Server \ XXX \ Setup Bootstrap \ Log. The summary.txt file and the individual SP journal folders contain all the details.
