Is there any resource for public domain images for use in the GUI?

I am looking for some public domain images that can be used for buttons, progress bars, and other common GUI components. I cannot find anyone with Google, and a search in Creative Commons only returns screenshots of the programs. Is there anything for those of us who want a clean GUI but have zero graphic design skills?

Tango Icon Library is an incredibly beautiful public domain icon library.

According to their FAQ:

The color palette is publicly available. The icon theme is also available as public domain with a 0.8.90 release. Although you are not obligated to, we will be grateful if you are lending to the project, if you decide to use the theme icon or derivative works in your project by contacting our Website. This will help strengthen awareness of the principles of style. Thanks.

Older versions were available under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike License, but this created an unnecessary barrier to adoption on some occasions.

Check out Silk icon set ; It is not publicly available, but it can be used as long as you link it.
