Webstat Code Signing Certificate for an Open Source Project

I am looking for a code signing certificate that Java Webstart will accept. This is for the Arianne Project (a ten year old open source project hosted on Sourceforge ).

Unfortunately, the β€œjust” open source free time project means that we cannot verify our identity by posting extracts from the company registry. Another problem is that code signing certificates look pretty expensive.

So, if anyone has suggestions where to look, I will be very grateful.

I used Thawte and Verisign , and used them to run web on both Windows and Mac. However, I think that any code signing certificate will work and can be converted to one that the Java Sign tool will accept. The important part is that the Java Runtime Engine includes this provider root certificate.

Please note that they continue to add more and more root certificates to each issued JRE, so the parameters increase, but if you want even the oldest JRE to recognize the certificate, you must adhere to old standards such as the ones I mention.

Tucows resells Comodo signing certificates for pretty cheap. Comodo's root certificates have been in the JRE since May 2006, and it was version JRE 1.5. Therefore, JRE 1.6 and later must support Comodo code signing certificates.

As for the price, here is a link to my previous answer in another thread . $ 75 per year or less (if you register for more than one year).

I'm not sure how I hanged myself on the personality they get, but look.

https://www.startssl.com is another organization with a lot of people on SO. I never used them, but looked them.
