I hate being the opposite, but I just turned on โAutomatically adjust visual perception based on client performance,โ and the VS2010 Ultimate is now almost as fast as the VS2008.
Earlier, I set this setting and checked the "Use hardware graphics acceleration, if available" checkbox.
I was seriously thinking about returning in 2008 due to the horrific 2010 performance.
I have a Precision workstation with:
Quad-core Xeon @ 3.40 GHz 16Gig RAM 3x15K 300 Gig SAS Drives NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 Running Server 2008 Standard SP2
The device is not in insufficient power, and if I open a very large solution with VS2008 (it is also installed), when opening several copies of VS2010 it opens almost instantly. I'm starting to think that the problem is incompatibility with the FX 1700 in VS2010.
Perhaps this problem is very configured. dependent.
