I have a Windows virtual server with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. in the last couple of days. When I get up in the morning and check my site, it is down when the SQLEXPRESS service is stopped.
I have never had this problem before and myself. I looked at the logs of the SQL server running, but they do not provide any information, can anyone suggest a log that will be useful for this situation?
when I try to connect to my database through management studio, I get this error -
A network-related or instance-specific error for SQL Server occurred while establishing the connection. The server was not found or was not available. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Supplier: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, error: 2)
when I restart the service that I can connect and my site is online again.
looking at the SQLEXPRESS service, I just set some recovery options, so if it doesnโt work, it will try to restart the service, and if it restarts the machine during subsequent failures, but itโs just a security net, I need to know what makes it stop.
some additional information that may be helpful. I use SQLCacheDependancy, so I have enabled Broker in the database.
This seems random and maybe a few weeks before.
