Are there any examples / instructions for using AWS S3 with CKFinder?

I want to use AWS S3 to host files and images for my site, but I also want to use CKEditor and CKFinder for the editor. Are there any examples of integrating AWS and CKFinder?

If you are looking for a Windows-based solution, there are several products available that will allow you to map a drive to an S3 bucket. For this purpose we use the TnTDrive product. (Please note that we are in no way associated with the creators of this product) Downloading files through CKEditor will go through a mapped drive, while client browsers will download these files directly from S3. No matter which product you use config, it is simple:

  • Create a disk mapping
  • Add read-only policy to cart
  • Change the config.baseUrl and config.baseDir in your CKFinder to point to the bucket and new drive.

Hope this is helpful.

I am in a similar situation, and despite the popularity of CKEditor / CKFinder and S3, the website has not yet provided a good solution that I can find. The best result I found is this comment on a corefive blog post where someone claims to have written one using codeigniter.

If you find or create a solution for this, submit it here!
