Cancel selection template in VIM

When I try to search for some words in an article, it will highlight the pattern. After I already found what I want, what should I do to cancel the selection template, which means that I do not want the words to be highlighted.

Best wishes,

I mapped ESC-u for this (e.g. less command):

nnoremap <ESC>u :nohlsearch<CR>

I found out from this page: http://www.semicomplete.com/blog/geekery/make-vim-hlsearch-like-less.html

You need a command :nohl .

Before I finally turned off the search, /sdjrgjlsfj was my preferred command.
