Questions Before Writing Your Own RSS Reader for iPad

This is not a new topic, one about the iPhone ( iPhone RSS Reader )

My goal is to get the latest and useful information before my implementation for the RSS reader on the iPad. (The same goes for the iPhone, just the difference in the GUI?)

Apple already provides TopSongs as an example, which uses its own NSNetwork and XML parser, etc.

ASIHttpRequest also provides good opportunities to download RSS xml data and use cocoa -rss to parse it. Same as Reading RSS Feeds on iPhone / iPad with ASIHttpRequest and cocoa -rss

Search in github with rss, there are a lot of projects around it.

So my questions may be like this:

  • 1). what are the best or popular open source projects for RSS reader for iPhone and iPad now?

  • 2). The workflow can be simplified, since the network connection โ†’ download โ†’ parse xml โ†’ display data, any real problems around this?

  • 3). Is GoogleReader one of the common examples of reading RSS? I mean, can a regular rss reader also be used to read google rss reader content?

Thanks for any other comments or suggest helping me find out more about this.

If you do not answer all your questions, I hope this helps in solving the second question. I found this article by one of the developers of NetNewsWire, to be very insightful about some of the problems that arise when creating my own reader, especially that you will need to synchronize with multiple devices):

Why โ€œJust Save Application Data to Dropboxโ€ won't work for RSS readers
