Latex: different pages with different margins

I am making a latex template for the type of document to be used at work. For this document, I have two different “commands” for creating a cover page; and others to do the rest of the document.

The fields that I need on the cover page are different from the fields in the rest of the document. Because of this, I have some "\ setlength" commands for the cover page and others for the rest.

The problem is that when I compile the document, the different fields take effect only one page after the one they should have used. For example, if I want the page for the cover page and the rest of the document to be different, then the first page has header fields, the second has header fields (and should not) and from the third page and further the fields are correct for the rest of the document .

What am I doing wrong?

Can you tell me what would be your strategy for creating such a document?

You can use the geometry package. Then you can use \newgeometry to change the layout of the document. This command also executes clearpage , so you must specify it exactly where you want to split the page.
