Why does one alarm log symbolize and not another?

I have two crash logs from an iPhone app in Xcode Organizer. Both of them occurred within 20 minutes of each other, on the same device, during the execution of the same application assembly. Although one of them was symbolic, the other was not.

An asymmetric log has a type and codes:

Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) Exception Codes: 0x00000000, 0x00000000

While a symbolic log has type and codes:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x61656810

Is this information sufficient to explain why the latter is symbolically correct, but the former is not?

I also experienced this and found that if you rename the crash log file and then drag it into the Xcode organizer, it will often be correctly symbolized.
