Best replacement for GCC # ident

Question

I used to install this on top of my source files to be able to grep -a "ID :" in my binaries:

 #ident "\\ n$@ ID : my_library.o v1.3 (25/08/07)@$\\n" 

However, this is not recommended in GCC 4.3.3. Any suggestions?

I went through __attributes__(section()) , but I'm not sure if this will be shared, and in any case, I assumed there was a simpler way.

The #ident directive (as well as #sccs) was invalid, so you just have to keep it!
