Problem with metro sites Google Maps

I need to find the nearest metro station from the specified point in nyc. I try to use google maps api, I found some examples of how to get nearby streets or place names, etc., but I can not find the station.

I think there can be two ways to do this:

  • If I find a list of metro stations with coordinates (latitude, longitude), I can write a script that tells me which station is within a radius, for example, 1 mile.

  • Google has metro stations on the map, I think there must be some way to get the coordinates of these stations directly from Google, even better if Google finds the nearest stations for me.

There is currently no way to get points of interest (POIs) on the Google Map API.

I think it is possible (now 2014) to get lat, lon for metro stations using the Googles Places library. see fooobar.com/questions/1321433 / ...
