SQL Server 2008 - How fast are tables between databases (the same server) and tables in the same database combined?

We are setting up a CMS in which there are several hundred tables. We plan to move our user tables to a separate database on the same server.

Should we expect a significant slowdown in SQL Server? There will be many multi-part stored procedures connecting the data in the CMS database and our user database.

should not affect ... however, you can also use a schema and put all your tables in that schema in the same database. Thus, all your materials will be logically grouped together.

I would say that it depends on whether the filegroups are different. If they are different, you can see that the queries are speeding up (see SQLMenace Comment below).

In my current place of work there are 3 databases that all communicate with each other on the same server, and there is no noticeable lag.
