Call a computer with another computer (Dial up Modem)

Is it possible to call computer A with computer B in the same country through their modems? I mean using a computer as a phone (with Dial Up modem) I don’t need voice transmission simply: 1) Computer A Dialing computer A (with phone number) 2) Computer B sees that computer A is calling. 3) Computer response B.

Please post a sample code or link for more information. if there is any library that made my work easier. I do not want to participate in AT Commands. Does this library help me? Use TAPI? thanks.

Yes. So far, both computers have compatible modems. You will need terminal software for both computers (perhaps a hyperterm for WinXP, but it has been a while, so I can’t say for sure). Basically, you need one computer to have another computer send a line like "ATDxxxxxxx", where xxxxxxx is the phone number of the receiving computer. When the line starts ringing on the receiver, enter β€œATA” on the receiving computer to tell the modem to respond. After the handshake, you should receive a "CONNECT" message. Keep in mind, it all depends on the individual characteristics of the modems and my memory, since it has been at least 8 years since I did any work with dialing in general. But that should give you the basic idea.
