If I wanted to host the LightSwitch application on my home computer, what should I do? My home computer has a Verizon FIOS connection. What software, configuration, etc. I need?

I assume you mean the 3-tier Silverlight LightSwitch web application. It is like any other Silverlight application β€” all you need on your home computer is IIS (to host your website and services) and a data source (such as SQL Server). Check out the Publish Application Wizard.

See How to Deploy the LightSwitch App for more details.

From the article -

After publishing, the ZIP file containing the package is placed in the directory specified for publication. After creating this package, the server administrator can use the MSDeploy tool to deploy the application to IIS and SQL. An administrator can open inetmgr and move to the place where the application will be deployed. The administrator can then right-click the location and select "Deploy: Import Application." The result of this is a wizard that the administrator can run to deploy the application.

If you publish your LS application as a β€œdesktop” application, all you need is an instance of SQL Server.

It may be SQL Express or some other taste of SQL Server that may occur on your computer.

You can also use the instance of SQL Server available to you on the network you are connected to if you want to do it this way.

You can even use the instance of SQL Express that LS installs for you (which MUST be there, you CANNOT remove it, or the debugging experience will no longer work).

You do not need anything, there will still be three "levels", but all three can be on your computer. You do not need IIS on your computer, a local web server will be created for you by the publishing wizard.

Here is a link that will give you the "official" steps for deploying a desktop application.
