What is equivalent to the / alt + left / right arrow option on debian, but on Mac OS X?

As the title says ...

It annoyed me forever that I can’t miss words when recording on a Mac terminal (it works when I logged into Debian via ssh on a Mac terminal)

I get '[D' on Mac instead of jumping left.

Option + B to skip a word, Option + F to skip a word forward. You should also use the key as a meta key .

Ctrl-[ b should bounce back. You can also use Esc instead of Ctrl-[ and f to go forward.

The same key combos will work on Linux (via SSH or sit on the machine) and do not require settings for different keyboard layouts.

The answers here do not solve the problem, in my opinion. To get scrolling words in GNU format, you can edit your key bindings for CTRL + β†’ and CTRL + <- so that they skip words.

Iterm (2) Go to "Settings" β†’ "Profiles" β†’ "Keys" β†’ + (under the bindings) You will be asked to shorten the keyboard, press CTRL and the arrow key that you are using. Set ACTION to send SEQUENCE SEQUENCE Set ESC + to b (to return) or to f (to fast forward)

TERMINAL Settings β†’ Profiles β†’ Keyboard β†’ + (Under bindings) Set KEY to <- cursor left or right Set MODIFIER to ^ Control Set ACTION to send text Set an empty input field either \ 033f (for sending) or \ 033b (for reverse)

Once you exit, you can skip forward and backward by 1 word, exactly the same as in GNU Linux.

Please note that there is a problem with vim for cycling forward as indicated here: https://superuser.com/questions/639992/iterm2-vim-altright-left-arrow

Hope this helps!
