The answers here do not solve the problem, in my opinion. To get scrolling words in GNU format, you can edit your key bindings for CTRL + β and CTRL + <- so that they skip words.
Iterm (2) Go to "Settings" β "Profiles" β "Keys" β + (under the bindings) You will be asked to shorten the keyboard, press CTRL and the arrow key that you are using. Set ACTION to send SEQUENCE SEQUENCE Set ESC + to b (to return) or to f (to fast forward)
TERMINAL Settings β Profiles β Keyboard β + (Under bindings) Set KEY to <- cursor left or right Set MODIFIER to ^ Control Set ACTION to send text Set an empty input field either \ 033f (for sending) or \ 033b (for reverse)
Once you exit, you can skip forward and backward by 1 word, exactly the same as in GNU Linux.
Please note that there is a problem with vim for cycling forward as indicated here: https://superuser.com/questions/639992/iterm2-vim-altright-left-arrow
Hope this helps!
