Silverlight Windows Phone 7: Hard Events?

I am mocking a wp7 application in Expression Blend and have been looking for setting up an event handler in response to certain gestures. Some Bing-ing shows that some people recommend using β€œon click” or something else and checking the time between taps, but it seems like there should be an easier way.

Is there an event for Silverlight controls that fires for gestures (or specific types of gestures?)

Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 does not contain any gesture support. However, there are a number of options available:

Silverlight for the Windows Phone Toolkit contains a GestureService / GestureListener, which I would recommend to look at first.

Laurent Bugnion has created several MultiTouch behaviors that may be of interest, depending on your specific requirements.

The final option would be to use some gestures supported by the XNA Framework . Mike Ormond wrote a good introduction for using them.

In addition, you will have to define / define gestures yourself using the ManipulationStarted , ManipulationDelta and ManipulationCompleted events. MSDN also has a manual for handling manipulation events , which you can also use as a pointer to gesture detection yourself.
