Can I restrict EC2 20 instance restriction with multiple accounts?

Just a question, let's say I'm in a research group with 10 members, and we want to deploy a project that will require leasing at the request of 200 copies of EC2. Can we actually get around the limit of 20 copies by creating 10 AWS accounts (one each) and then renting up to 200 copies upon request?

You can do this - you can have as many accounts with their respective payment details as you want. Then you have a standard 20 instance limit associated with each account.

Keep in mind that these accounts are separate and have their own access keys. Any technology that you deploy to deploy instances in these accounts should be aware of this, as your pool manager will need the appropriate key for the account in which he is trying to run the instance. You may also encounter difficulties with sharing EBS, access to a security group (for example, if you have a domain controller in one account, virtual machines in other accounts cannot see it), and load balancing and VPC are probably will be difficult at best.

Amazon usually responds quickly to requests to increase the limit - because the more copies you use, the more money they make. Obviously, they want to ensure that they have the opportunity for your requirement, so they manually β€œcheck” the requests, but provided that you have a reasonable business example that they can easily place.

No need for "tricks." You can simply contact AWS Support and they can change the limit for you.

You are limited to working 20 copies on demand or reserved copies and starting 100 Spot copies for each region. Cluster GPU Quadruple Extra Large instances and four large I / O instances limited to launching 2 instances upon request in each region [...].

Increase your limit with http://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/ec2-request

Bid on demand for a bunch of random instances. You will never finish paying the full price, but your spot instances will rarely be terminated. See http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/spot-instances/ and a decision on your bidding strategy
