What version of Eclipse to use with Android?

I am an old developer (active since Z80 days), starting with Android.

  • On the Android Developers page, it is recommended that you install Eclipse before installing the Android SDK.
  • It also says: โ€œThere are known issues with the ADT plugin working with Eclipse 3.6. Stay on 3.5 until further notice.โ€
  • The Eclipse download page offers 11 different packaging options. No one mentions Android, and everything seems to be version 3.6, which Android developers recommend avoiding. - What is he doing?

Get version 3.5 for Eclipse for Java developers (you can contact this page through the "Older Versions" link on the download home page). One of the problems I encountered with 3.6 was that autocomplete froze for several seconds trying to find the source of Android. Until they fix it, 3.5 is better.

After installing Eclipse, you can follow the instructions to install the Android plugin .

I got MotoDev, which is a full installation of Eclipse with the Android SDK. He has emulators for all Moto phones. The perfection begins, in my opinion. Also, this is all Eclipse, so you can use all the other options you want.

If you are interested in downloading here: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/motodevstudio/download/

have fun i have.
