Any tips for speeding up JBoss when starting from Eclipse?

Normally, jboss takes a little less than a minute to start from the command line, but when I run it in debug mode from Eclipse, it takes more than 2 minutes, which can be a good pain when you are just trying to debug a quick configuration change.

Does anyone have any tips for making JBoss faster?

I am using JBoss 5.1.0GA using the "all" profile, Java 1.6 and Eclipse 3.6

Take a look at the JBoss 5.x Tuning / Slimming article . Less service takes less time to initialize.

You can also use exploded deployment to save time creating your ear. Seam uses the built-in JBOss for unittesting (TestNG), maybe you will find additional tricks there.
