Proxychains - wget cannot work

I configured ProxyChains to use 127.0.0.1:1080 as the only socks server. All DNS queries are proxied through the specified server.

I can use Firefox correctly with ProxyChains, but there is a problem with wget. Whenever I use proxychains wget , it first tries to connect to my university proxy and then tries to connect to my local proxy.

The output from the proxychains wget www.google.com command is as follows:

 ProxyChains-3.1 (http://proxychains.sf.net) --2010-11-26 22:14:38-- http://www.google.com/ Resolving **********... |DNS-request| ********** |D-chain|-<>-127.0.0.1:1080-<><>-4.2.2.2:53-<><>-OK |DNS-response|: ********** is not exist failed: Unknown error. wget: unable to resolve host address `**********'

********** above represents my university proxy hostname.

My problem was resolved after it became root ("sudo sh") and ran the same command.

Launched the proxychains sudo wget google.com team.

You can try to determine your proxy address with a shell environment variable. The wget manual section contains brief configuration information for the proxy.

in the file /usr/lib/proxychains3/proxyresolv

change 4.2.2.2 - 8.8.8.8

or use env PROXYRESOLV_DNS

You can also make proxychains not a proxy DNS query,

in proxychains.conf comment on the proxy_dns parameter
