Changing the name of an application in Windows Installer

I created an installation project for a Windows application developed using Visual Stduio 2008 (C #).

In the part of the installation screen where it says, this installer will walk you through the steps necessary to install ABC on your computer

I want this to change to , this installer will walk you through the steps necessary to install XYZ on your computer

To change the name that appears on the welcome screen, you will need to change as shown below.

Right-click on the installer project name> View> User Interface.

Edit the Welcome properties in the Start section.

Follow these steps to change the name of your application:

  • Make sure your installation project is open in Visual Studio.

  • Click the project root level icon in Solution Explorer.

  • In the properties window, change the ProductName property to "XYZ" or whatever you want the installer to display your application name.

  • Restore the installation project.

Now, if you right-click on the project icon in the solution explorer and click "Install", the installation program starts and you can verify the correct display name of the application.

It's also worth exploring the other deployment features that are available for installation projects to make sure they are set appropriately for your application.
