What is the difference between upper and upper latin in css style?

I was interested to know what is the difference between upper and upper latin in css list-style ?

The main difference is that upper-latin not supported by IE6 or IE7, while upper-alpha is.

Other than that, there seems to be no difference. They are described identically in the official W3C specification .

They do the same thing.

MDC says :

For Internet compatibility, Explorer 7 (and below) avoids lower latin and upper latin. Instead, use lower alpha and upper alpha.
