Qt dll deployment on windows

Question

I am having a strange problem deploying a Qt application. I created Zip with all the necessary DLLs and my binaries on my 32-bit Windows XP field, where the application worked perfectly,

Then I tested this on my laptop running Windows 7 64 bit, giving me weird results. Window icons will revert to their default values, and my taskbar icon is invisible. Everything else works. When I draw a logo from the same resource file in the window (and this works on both machines), the resource file should be perfectly loaded.

Then I copied the dll (which I installed with the same installer) from my win7 machine to the directory of my binary, and the icons work again. I checked the dlls hashes and they are identical.

I also tried these dlls on my XP machine, and this time it does not show icons.

This is rather strange, because dlls are installed from one package and are identical, but they don’t work on another machine.

Is there anything I missed?

I am using QT 4.7 and the msvs2008 installer plus addin.

If you deploy plugins to your application directory, you should use imageformats and iconengines directories (without a plugin / prefix). See Documentation on Deploying Plugin

Edit: And if you use QML, you also need to copy the contents of the "import" directory (also without import / prefix) to your application directory.
