Most advanced multi-screen techniques

I am looking for some articles about creating a website for several screen sizes - for example, a desktop computer, iPad, iPhone, other mobile device. Since this area is moving so fast, it’s hard to understand that what I read is a few “best practices” behind or not. Can someone point me in the right direction?
