How to use eclipse workspace on different computers

I have 3 machines for developers (office desk, office laptop and home laptop), and I would like to save the eclipse workspace and projects on a USB drive and use it on all three computers ... is this possible and how?

Although it is possible by specifying the folder on your usb as the workspace, I would recommend using version control if you have access to some server. Thus, you can work on projects anywhere, have a permanent backup and track changes.

Try using Dropbox folders for your workspace (with their packrat feature, this is even better). This will update all your files: D.

Yes it is. Copy the workspace folder to your USB drive and open the workspace from any Eclipse installation you want.

By the way, it might be better to use a version control system. Of course, you will have to synchronize the workspace every time you make changes to the code and commit it, but USB drives may be lost or stolen, and I’m sure you won’t want to lose all your projects if you lost your USB drive .

It is possible. Change the workspace to point to the shared drive. This is easier for OSs like linux, since you can connect a USB drive to a specific directory.

Or do what I do and copy the workspace directory for specific projects from one machine to another. This has been covered here: How to use eclipse configuration for different workspaces
