Position: fixed with overflow: hidden parent not working

Question

I am trying to apply overflow: hidden in a child box with the position: fixed. This does not seem to work due to a fixed position. Is there a fix?

I read about a similar problem with the situation: absolute elements, but corrections do not work for fixed elements.
