Comments in sql server, good or inconvenient for performance?

Is it good to add comments to tables and columns through sp_addextendedproperty? Someone told me that this will slow down the database and it is not worth it. What do you think?

Yeah i think this is good practice

No, this does not slow down. Why? Does β€œsomeone” have empirical evidence or an authoritative article?

This is a great practice for commenting on code. Notes, like coding in an interface tool, are very useful for maintenance and documentation.

Will it slow down the "database"? Absolutely not.

Ok, let me fix myself.

Code + Inline comments come into play only when the engine evaluates and prepares an execution plan.

Thus, compilation can take very little time to ignore comments, but more about that.

Advanced properties will not slow down the database, and there are automatic help tools that collect advanced properties to create documentation for you are very useful.
