Qt Designer freeze (lockup) when selecting "Select resource ..."

Problem

The Qt constructor blocks when an image is selected from a resource, stops responding, just makes Windows bing sound.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem with Qt Designer, or decent work?

I just tried Label.pixmap and PushButton.icon .

Each time I select this option, the entire constructor is locked. It looks like it is trying to display a modal selection dialog box, but I don't see it anywhere.

"Select file ..." works fine, but it's not a convenient option.

I had a Designer working properly in the past. My project was suspended for a couple of months, during which time I lost my Qt version due to a complete hard disk failure and restored it from the zip backup that I made. I can still create against Qt libs. It has not worked since.

I also created for Linux, and the same .ui files can be edited correctly using Ubuntu 10.10.

Environment

• Qt v4.7.1

• VS2008 SP1, I built my own Qt assembly

• VS addin (same symptoms for v1.1.7 and v1.1.9)

• Win7-x64 Pro

Tried (without success):

• Qt recovery from source

• manually edit the .ui file as suggested here: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/ ... crashes-Creator

• start the designer from the installed folder

• looked at designer.exe in procmon (it seems to make a lot of registry queries for HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces , but nothing that looks significant)

It really hurts me, really appreciate it.

The "lock" was caused by the fact that Designer opened a dialog of modal resources. However, since in the past, using the constructor, I moved my second screen to the other side of my main screen, the modal dialog was opened on the old screen (no longer connected), so I could not see it.

Resolution: Windows key + left key moved the missing dialog back to the connected screen.
