I am starting the Sencha Touch / PhoneGap project for iOS. The project will be a heavy image / movie, the problem is that I don’t understand how you manage these images in terms of caching. Is this done for you?
I wrote some heavy Objective-C iOS applications and memory management has always been one of the main problems. I don’t see how this translates to the PhoneGap platform, am I not worried about anything?
The scenario will be that when I remove the HTML element, what happens to the corresponding image / video files, either as HTML src or as a CSS property (like background-image )?
a. Associated image / movie files are deleted from the cache. (This seems unlikely as it will probably break the preload)
b. All files are in the cache queue, when the cache is full, the oldest files are deleted to free up space. (I route for this)
with. Nothing an application simply inflates and fails when it is too large.
D. Something else. Please do not just say “something else”, I would really like to know what is happening. :)
NOTE. All image / movie files will be contained in the application. Resources will not be downloaded from the server.
Thanks in advance,
Rich
