In the activity diagram, how can I refer to external activity?

Suppose I have an activity diagram that simulates a specific process that uses other processes that need to be modeled as a separate activity: how do I refer to this second action in my first activity diagram?

Is there any character used to refer to an individual action from the activity diagram?

What do you mean is CallBehaviourAction. To indicate this, place a fork symbol inside an action that refers to activity (see UML Superstructure Specification, section 12.3.14 ). In addition, you can add the name of the called activity to some notation that makes sense in your case (for example, some kind of fully qualified name if your actions are called that way).
