WP7 Update Tiles Locally

Question

Is it possible in WP7 to update the tile from a dependent application. For example, a weather service that updates tiles every hour (ShellTileSchedule). Thanks in advance.

If you use the current (7.0 / pre-mango tools) way to update the tiles locally through ShellTileSchedule. Alternatively, you can try sending a TileNotification push alert from your application. (Note that I have not tried this myself, and I heard mixed messages about how successful it is.) You cannot do this when the application is down.
