The hasbox HTML attribute

Question

I am trying to solve some rendering problems in IE9 and have come across a tag attribute that I am not familiar with - hasbox.

It seems like IE introduces the attribute at runtime (this is not in my sources). I searched numerous sites, including stackoverflow, without finding anything useful ... search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) return many examples showing html tags with the hasbox="2" attribute, but otherwise the results do not matter.

Can someone explain this attribute or point me to a resource where I can find out more?
